The sea otter is one of the most playful and intelligent animal in most mythologies. This is a very fine carved rattle with black and white horse hair on its head and with a beautifully curved handle. Another unique feature of this piece are the copper inlays which serves as its eyes and nostrils. The artist left much of the rattle unpainted so the natural grain of the wood could be appreciated.
