Description

This magnificent box was created by master artist Jimmy Joseph. All four sides, the front, back of the lid are carved deeply, painted and beautifully decorated with lots of paua shell pieces. The traditional designs all flow into one another.

The top of the box consists of two raven heads, salmon, thunderbird, sun, and human. The front of the box has a wolf and raven, salmon and thunderbird spirit. The back of the box has a killer whale, the human spirit in the body and sun on the left upper corner, In the bottom, the artist carved four ravens head. The right side of the box shows a two eagle facing side by side and humanoid face in the body of the eagle. On the left side of the box are a thunderbird with a raven head on the left top corner and other raven head in the bottom.

This stunning piece is painted with six different colors and decorated with countless pieces of paua shell. It deserves a special place to allow its beauty to shine! The lid is fastened with a long, brown-colored hinge and a chain mounted to it to allow it to hold open.
