Robert is an up and coming Squamish Nation wood carver who belongs to a talented family of carvers. Robert learned to carve from his mother Ruth Baker and father Eddie Apodaca who are both well-known artists in the Squamish community. He learned the traditions of these art forms by assisting his parents in carving projects from an early age.

Robert is developing his own personal artistic style and is creating a name for himself carving plaques, totems, masks, and bowls in the Squamish Nation carving tradition. Using animal symbolism in his carvings is his recurring theme of expression in Robert work.
