He was taught by his mother Marie E Moody and was greatly influenced by his grandfather Laquse Hamis James. He was always fond of his grandfather’s paintings and carvings. Those artworks are the signature of only his families, of the Coast Salish and Kwa Guilth decent. Alexi feels that he comes from the unknown artist of the Northwest Coast of Vancouver Island. Alexi is very proud of the hard work and the dedication to his carvings that he still accomplishes today. Alexi remains to be the private person in the unknown world of carvings that are being made today.
Alexi Underwood, born with a gift that should remain with him the rest of his life, is pursuing a career in carving and sharing his art with persons around the world. His artworks have been collected in many countries all over the world.
