Battle in the Sky II

This piece depicts a Cowichan legend the artist was told about his grandmother's people.

There was a giant supernatural killer whale feeding on all of the salmon leaving none for the people. The people summoned the Thunderbird for help. A great battle took place in the sky over the Cowichan people at the mouth of the river at St. Annes. The Thunderbird had ultimate victory and the people celebrated.

Blue Skies appeared after the Thunderbird's victory and so David chose to create this piece in a beautiful sky blue and steely grey.
